Terms of Service
Last updated 16 September 2026
In brief
- Explorae is free to use. Your map is yours.
- Map boundaries are approximate. Don't use the app to navigate or to settle a border.
- The app is provided as it is, and we can't promise it will always be available.
- You can stop using it, and delete your data, whenever you like.
These terms are an agreement between you and Nabeel Shehzad, trading as Apptreo (“we”), for using the Explorae app and the map files it downloads. By using Explorae, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
The app
Explorae lets you keep a map of the places you've visited. It's free. If we add paid features later, they'll be clearly marked in the app, and their price and any extra terms will be shown before you buy. Purchases are handled by Google Play or the App Store, under their terms.
Your account
You can use Explorae without an account. If you sign in with Google to back up your map, you're responsible for keeping that Google account secure. You must be at least 13 to use Explorae, or older where the law where you live requires it.
Your content
The visits, notes and other information you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and copy them only as needed to run the app for you — to keep them on your phone and, if you sign in, to back them up. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what that involves.
Please don't put anything in a note that you don't have the right to store, or that's unlawful.
Using Explorae fairly
Don't misuse the app or the services behind it. In particular, don't:
- try to reach other people's data, or get around the app's security;
- overload, scrape or interfere with our servers or the map download host;
- copy, resell or redistribute the app itself, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows.
Maps and places
Explorae's maps are built from open data by OCHA, Natural Earth, GeoNames, the United States Census Bureau, geoBoundaries, OpenStreetMap contributors and others, credited in Settings → Map data. That data belongs to its creators and is used under their licences.
Boundaries are simplified and may be out of date, and the city the app places you in can be wrong near a border. Place names and boundaries, including in disputed areas, are shown for recording your travels only; they don't express any view on the legal status of a territory or its borders.
Explorae is not a navigation or safety tool. Don't rely on it to find your way, or for anything where a wrong location could cause harm.
Our app
Explorae, its name, design and code belong to Apptreo. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app; they don't give you ownership of it.
Changes and availability
We keep improving Explorae, so features may change, and we may stop offering some of them, including country map downloads. We'll try to give notice of significant changes. We can't promise the app or its online services will always be available or free of errors.
If we ever shut down the backup service, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice so you can export your map. Everything on your phone keeps working without it.
No warranty
Explorae is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't guarantee that the maps, places or statistics in the app are accurate or complete.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Explorae. As the app is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you've paid us for it, if anything. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Ending use
You can stop using Explorae at any time, and delete your data and account in Settings. We may suspend or end access to the backup service for anyone who seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and describe significant changes in the app's release notes. If you keep using Explorae after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan. If you live elsewhere, you keep any protections the consumer laws of your own country give you.
